The companion app for the Blu-ray release of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows serves to give the user a deeper insight into the backstory and production of the original series and contemporary franchise. Functionality includes a look into the life and times of Arthur Conan Doyle's revered character, a guide to the locations of the film (with a day-and-night timeline), script and scene breakdowns, and character guides. Throughout the experience, the user can queue footage from the disc to reference the film, or see Robert Downey Jr. offering his own commentary from a live shoot directed for the companion.
